Conference of the German Alzheimer Society: More information and support for the Turkish-speaking families needed

(Mynewsdesk) Berlin, 12. January 2018. People with Turkish roots and their families need more information about dementia and more support for living with dementia. Counseling centers and facilities for the elderly in Germany are not sufficiently adjusted to the needs of this group. This was during the conference dementia - Support for Turkish-speaking families of the German Alzheimer Society on 9. January in Augsburg clearly.

The conference was aimed at victims, Relatives and interested parties. Prof. Dr. I get Baraldi Kulaksızoğlu, Psychiatrist at the University Hospital in Istanbul explained symptoms, Diagnosis and treatment of dementia. Huge Füsun, Managing Director of the Turkish Alzheimer's Association made clear by many examples of the importance of relief activities for the family. Nimet Saran ina - intercultural network elderly showed the legal and financial aspects of dementia and Dr. Jens Schneider of the Alzheimer's Association Augsburg informed about existing support services.

To reach the German-Turkish Community, should all be in counseling and the elderly open employment for this group and actively approach them. One way is, to develop joint offers in Turkish. Particularly successful deals in places, who are familiar to the target group.

The symposium was held as part of the project dementia and migration of the German Alzheimer Society held. estimated to be living in Germany about 108.000 People with an immigrant background, who have dementia. They and their families need counseling, help and support.
